Education for Everyone

A/DIS (Alcohol and Other Drugs Information School)

The purpose of our A/DIS workshop is to provide information for non-dependant people (or people with no evidence of significant problems with Alcohol or drugs).

This is a 1-day class, 8 hours in length, which is intended to educate individuals and enable them to make informed choices and to identify and avoid possible high-risk behavior in the future. The main goal of the course is to reduce the harmful effects of negative behavior and increase personal responsibility or awareness. During the course, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the risk and consequences of alcohol and other drug abuse.

A/DIS is open to anyone who wishes to attend, however most do so because of some situation that has lead them into a high-risk situation with alcohol or other drugs.

This is not intended for dependent people with a history of serious alcohol and drug abuse. This workshop is designed for people seeking/needing education, not treatment. No assessment is necessary. There is a $75 fee for this workshop. Attendees are provided with a workbook. Course content includes:

  • Introduction
  • Alcohol/other drug & their effects
  • Use, Abuse & Dependence
  • Laws & Consequences
  • Decision-making and My Action Plan

Though there are many websites on addiction and substance abuse, we believe the following sites have a particularly good selection of books, books on tape, and DVDs. They also contain inspiring testimonials of people sharing their own personal experience and words of strength and hope for people recovering from addiction.
